Residents at Birch Green Care Home were invited to take part in a food tasting challenge recently.
Organised through Jan Holt, Birch Green’s own nutrition advocate, the tasty event involved food provider Appetite, who visited us with a range of dishes after meeting Jan at the recent Liverpool Care Show event.
Among those on offer were steak pie, pork in cider gravy, and smoked haddock, as we tucked in and gave our feedback on how they were enjoyed.
Jan explained: “It has been known for some time that nutrition is a key part of the caring process, particularly for those with dementia.
“We’re always on the lookout for the best way to ensure our residents have access to the most nutritious and healthiest foods available, made from fresh local ingredients and we were happy to welcome Appetite into Birch Green.
“Everyone enjoyed the food on offer and gave their feedback which I’m sure was well received.”
