Springhill Care Home nurse practitioner Rob Little led an enthusiastic group of staff at Birch Green Care Home with a knowledge based course in how to manage challenging situations within a Dementia service using non-intervention techniques.
Rob gave a period of instruction which was followed by hands – on participation for all staff, enabling each member of the team, whatever their role in the Home – to approach our more challenging situations appropriately with confidence and competence.
The one-day seminar is externally accredited and awards staff a Certificate of Competence in this important area of our work. The seminar will be rolled out across the Home as part of the ongoing programme of continuous learning and improvement.
Donna Briggs, Managing Director of Springhill Care Group, said: “This is a worthwhile and professional course which demonstrates how we can share and use our knowledge across our homes for the benefit of our residents and our staff.
“It’s wonderful to have our own knowledgeable and professionally competent staff to be able to deliver specific skills and enable them to be transferable to all our staff, whatever their role in the Home.”
