Birch Green Care Home played host to Mildred Pratt, MBE, recently, to hear about her fundraising adventures in Africa.
The popular charity worker and author visited Birch Green following an invitation from the home’s former activity co-ordinator, Thelma Culshaw.
Mildred, who received the MBE from the Queen in 1999 for services to the people of Zambia, has spent many years based in the African nation as a missionary and charity worker working to combat disease and improve education and healthcare.
A former teacher, and author of ‘All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all,’ she visited Birch Green to share stories of her life.
Catherine Shawarby, General Manager of Birch Green, said: “Mildred was wonderful and had everyone enthralled with tales of her exciting life.
“Everyone was particularly keen to hear her recount her meeting with the Queen when she received her MBE.”
