A group of children from a Skelmersdale school spent time chatting with residents at Birch Green Care Home recently as part of a school project.
The youngsters, from St James’ Catholic Primary School, Ashurst Road, listened as the residents of the Skelmersdale care home relived wartime memories.
The home was decorated for the occasion with bunting, balloons and old newspaper cuttings, and the Year six children got into the spirit of the occasion with costumes and cake.
Among the residents taking part were Archie Johnson, Dorothy Linsey, Vera Fischer, Charlie Lovett and Dorothy Gostellow, who shared their World War 2 era photographs and experiences with the children.
Karen House of Birch Green said: “The children and the residents really got into the spirit of the occasion and it was great to see them sharing stories and memories.”
